I joined the 14-day challenge today, I know I am a-bit late & I am not traveling anywhere today but yes for sure, I am not unaware of the feelings and emotions of offering my seat to someone else.
Following the format provided by Celes, my answer will be as following points:-
- Your experience doing the act of kindness
- How you felt when doing the act
- The response you received after doing the act (if applicable)
- Anything else you want to share.
Your experience doing the act of kindness?
Giving or offering my seat to someone else has always been a heart-touching act for me- to see someone else do it or when I do myself. I call it kindness-in-action. And the smile on the taker's face just makes my day. Although the conscious-mind does not forget to give me the logic of strain and pain associated with standing esp. in an over-crowded bus or train, beset by tired and irritated people but the heart always win the debate.
How you felt when doing the act?
It is a million-dollar feeling. And it just cannot be bought! I just love this feeling. The smile on the taker's face just takes away all my tiredness and strain.I remember my bad-mood becoming good. I would not be wrong to quote that in my case it is a 'stress-buster'.
The response you received after doing the act (if applicable)?
Well sometimes it is a just a smile, sometimes it is a smile with thank-you,sometimes it is a big-smile with thank-you, sometimes it is no appreciation and sometimes people do not accept my offer too!
Anything else you want to share?
I have never offered my seat to anyone with an expectation of getting another seat but I notice the moment I offer my seat to someone else,90% of the time, I end up getting another seat no matter how crowded the bus or train is. Unyielding looking passengers shift to make whatever space possible for me or someone just reserves their seat for me. I feel extremely happy that a small act of kindness, catches with others too!
